Week 3: Thing 5
This week has been the most difficult so far. I have run into computer glitches and frustration was high. I have to admit that it was the end of a long day, and thoughts of walking along the beach sounds very inviting. It is the one place in the world that 'calms the savage beast'. I have to play with this site more to become comfortable with it. I bet the kids will adapt to this site with ease! OK I'm jealous that it comes so easy to them. I usually try it out on my kids at home before bringing it into my classroom. Now I have to think of this tool as a curriculum tool. Any ideas for Early American History?

Week 2: Creation
This week I created my blog. I found it very rewarding working with a group of teachers from my school. Although I enjoy group learning, I soon ran into system issues. In the middle of creating my avatar, our system went down. I was determined to work on it at home. Again, I think we are nearing the necessity to have each member of my family with our own computers. One of my kids, a freshman in college, needed it for a heavy load of school work this week, another needed to look up explorers, and my fourth grader needed to practice her math facts online. I guess we have arrived in the digital age. The oldest is now at work, the others are in bed and I finally have control of the computer. :) Learning how to create my avatar was fun. I am planning to have my students create an avatar and usethat personna and blogging to report on the news as we explore colonization and the beginnings of American History. I bet they will really get into it.

Week 1: Thing 1
I would love to teach my students the 7 1/2 Habits of Life Long Learning. If they can make a learning plan for themselves, my hope is that it would make them more successful in the classroom. At least, they would begin to own their learning. I have been a life long learner for most of my life. Being a little ADHD about the interesting things I run across in the papers, I use the Internet to go in all directions. I find this technology awesome. My goal now is to learn more about the technologies available to educators and students.
